This section emphasizes elements of composition that shape the conventions of most academic writing – elements such as supporting generalizations with specific evidence, presenting evidence and using terms in clear, fair and accurate ways, building sentence- and paragraph-level coherence. We will work with forms of writing that are
In preparation for most writing assignments, we will read and respond to complex texts. We will learn the conventions associated with narrative, summary, critique and argument, and the techniques of basic research.
You will often be asked to develop ideas and exchange drafts in peer-response groups. Talking about your work and seeing what others are doing can strengthen your abilities as critical and constructive readers and expand your repertoire of writing strategies. Many classes will be activity-based, with some element of composition taking place during class time.

It's probably old for many of you but new to me, so you can help e earn how it works and some of the ways it doesn't. I think it will be a good place to send drafts for editing, or to ask about assignments. So we beginnnn....
