In preparation for most writing assignments, we will read and respond to complex texts. We will learn the conventions associated with narrative, summary, critique and argument, and the techniques of basic research.
You will often be asked to develop ideas and exchange drafts in peer-response groups. Talking about your work and seeing what others are doing can strengthen your abilities as critical and constructive readers and expand your repertoire of writing strategies. Many classes will be activity-based, with some element of composition taking place during class time.
